Bolivia Teas

Bolivian teas are grown on the high misty slopes where the Amazon Basin meets the Andes Mountains.  This unique location, where cool air from the Andean snowcapped peaks combines with warm moist air from the Amazon, has produced unique teas with extraordinary flavor and a distinctive aroma for over seventy years.

The cool temperatures and increased rainfall where these Bolivian teas grow allow tea bushes to grow slower, creating distinctive teas.

China Teas

The history of tea in China is long and complex. The Chinese have enjoyed tea for thousands of years. Most Chinese teas are consumed in China and are not exported, except to Chinese-speaking communities in other countries.

Within the traditional main categories of tea (white, green, oolong, black, pu-erh), researchers estimate there are between 700 to 1,000 variations due to different strains of the camilla plant, growing conditions, and processing techniques.

India Teas

India is one of the largest tea producers in the world, though over 70% of the tea is consumed within India itself. A number of renowned teas, such as Darjeeling, also grow exclusively in India.

Research shows that tea is indigenous to eastern and northern India, and was cultivated and consumed there for thousands of years and represents the style of tea grown in the Assam region.  On the other hand, Chinese varieties not suited for the conditions in Assam flourish in the higher altitudes such as Darjeeling. There are several very different varieties of teas that grow in India depending on their unique growing regions.

The buds are partially open, and the leaf is lightly curled giving the tea a silvery appearance. Japan Teas

The history of tea in Japan has its earliest known references in a text written by a Buddhist monk in the 9th century. Tea became a drink of the religious classes in Japan when Japanese priests and envoys sent to China to learn about its culture brought tea to Japan.

Almost all kinds of Japanese tea are processed by kneading, except for matcha. Tea leaves are dried and kneaded using the application of heat. This process enables the tea to be easily brewed and to form the tea leaves into the proper shape.
